Princess Trees and Chrysanthemum Weeds are having a field day in this expansive, vacant lot on the southern edge of Olde Kensington in Philadelphia. There are also some Trees-of-Heaven in the background.
At this age, Princess Trees have the equivalent of “puppy feet,” in that their leaves are oversized, not yet grown into, and flopping around. The monster leaves do allow the trees to suck up as much sunlight as possible and grow astonishingly fast, however. Once at a mature height, the leaves are no longer oversized.
